Marbled Valentine's Sugar Cookies for Kiddies

I'm a couple weeks behind on my blogging. Anyway, the Friday before Valentine's Day, the pre-kindergarten class I am working in had a Valentine's Day celebration where the children distributed Valentines to each other and ate red cupcakes. I made goodie bags for the kids for the celebration, consisting of an animal hologram Valentine's card, a Valentine's-themed silly bracelet, Hershey's kisses, heart-shaped sugar candies, Valentine's stickers, heart-shaped lollipops, and these mini marbled heart sugar cookies. They were just the right size for the little guys, and it was easy to fit a couple into each bag.

Sandwiches, Sandwiches

Pear, brie, and pepper jelly on organic 7-grain toast.
Jalapeno hummus, red pepper, guacamole, and paprika on organic whole wheat bread.
Here are a couple sandwiches I experimented with that sound a little weird but actually taste good.

Zucchini

I had asked my Dad to pick up some cucumbers at the super market for me. He accidentally grabbed zucchini, but that was just fine; I love zucchini!

Pesce Pasta with Parents and Will

Went to Pesce Pasta with my parents and Will the Monday before the last.

Superbowl Sunday

...then I chopped up some of the leftover Buffalo wings and pickled jalapenos to make this Superbowl Salad.
There were some leftovers, so I cooked up the rest of the baked beans with some asiago cheese...
Then we put the beans on some nachos, baked them with cheese and salsa, and ate them with the guacamole.
Haley made her signature guacamole.
Allie made baked beans with sour cream.
I must admit, I've never been the biggest football fan. I am, however, a huge fan of all the traditional crap that is eaten on Superbowl Sunday. This year, Haley and Allie came over to watch the game.

Visitors' Weekend- Sunday Goodbye Brunch with Rindler and Erin

From right to left: Erin's eggs and home fries, my breakfast quesadilla, and Rind's sandwich and soup.

Our dear Rindler left us on Sunday (the 6th). Before he left, we sent him off with another good meal.

Saturday of Visitors' Weekend- Miss Burns Returns

...And I also got this: black pepper seitan and broccoli with a house salad of ginger dressing and some brown rice with white beans.
I went in on these delicious short ribs...
Lady of the evening.
In addition to both Rindler and Winston being in town last weekend, Sarah flew in from L.A. on Saturday to begin her 3 month stay in New York City. To welcome her back, we all went to Allie and Alex's house for what was initially going to be a wine-and-cheese pre-game before we went out to dinner. However, as to be expected, everyone brought alcohol and no one brought cheese, plus all of us were more in the mood for take out. Instead, we ordered from two restaurants: a Chinese one, and a vegan Pan-Asian restaurant.

Visitors' Weekend Continues with some Movie Snacking

After brunch, Erin, Rindler, Shannon and I took a trip to Blockbuster and then went back to Rindler's sister's house to watch The Last Exorcism (which we all agreed was pretty good until the end) and snack on some popcorn, leftover pizza, and wine.

Table 12, Saturday of Visitors' Weekend/Dinefest

My shitake mushroom and spinach frittata with a side of home fries and bread.
Shannon's yummy sandwich with sweet potato fries.
Hailey's breakfast quesadillas.
This was Erin's dish. I was surprised Rindler didn't scold her for getting such a traditional meal. Then I realized that, for once, he went down the traditional path as well (see plate behind Erin's).
I'm a weirdo and generally like to have orange juice, coffee, AND water with my brunch- especially if I've had a few drinks the night before.
A mere six hours or so after a few of us left the diner, it was time for brunch. Rindler, Erin, Shannon, Hailey and I went to Table 12 in alphabet city to break our (short) fast.

Night of 1000 Dinners

Dinner #4: Late Night Diner. But, oh no, the feasting did not end there! Late in the evening/early in the morn, the three of us got hungry again and ended up at a diner with Rindler, Will, Michelle, Hailey, Jordan, Guin, and some dude no one knew who initially presented himself as a friend of Winston's, but didn't actually know Winston at all. Long story. However, this stranger led us to this diner which had an awesome selection of Eastern European food. I ordered a cup of borsht and split the mixed perogies (potato, mushroom, pork, beef) with Rindler (they came with caramelized onions, sour cream, and applesauce).
Dinner #3: The charcuterie platter was absolutely delicious, but it didn't suffice as a whole meal, so we decided to head elsewhere for some more food. The meat, cheese, and wine really got us into the Italian mood, so we went down the street to Motorino. There, we downed some more red wine, an order of meatballs, a white pizza with broccoli rabe and sausage, piece of tiramisu, and some coffee to reenergize and avoid food coma.
They also gave us this complementary liquor.
Dinner #2: I apologize for the low quality of the photos from here on out, I was using my phone, which has no flash. Haley's friend recently started working at a wine bar in Williamsburg. Haley, Allie, and I started off the night there with this charcuterie platter and some red wine.
Dinner #1: Peppa Pot Soup. I was meeting Haley and Allie for some grub, but my mom had made some delicious Peppa Pot soup. Of course, I had to try a bowl.
This past Friday, I ended up eating several dinners.
