Taste of Nola: Day 3

Beignets!
Iced coffee.
Making it a classics day, we went to Cafe du Monde for an afternoon snack to grab some coffee and beignets. Here is Mom and Tash tearing into some (though I definitely took the prize for beignet consumption).
Mexican omelette.
Coke with lemon and fries.
On our third and final day in Nola, my family and I rode our bikes uptown to the original Camellia Grill where we met Natasha for brunch.

Taste of Nola: Day 2

Pecan pie with a dark chocolate crust.
Bread pudding.
Key-lime pie.
Cauliflower au gratin.
A very minimalist dish: blackened drum with butter sauce.
Heart of palm salad with cherry tomatoes, green beans, butter lettuce, and a Creole mustard vinagrette.
Gina's oysters Rockefellar. Delicious sauce.
Many loaves of fresh bread.
Maker's on the rocks.
Dinner at Gallatoire's. Natasha was too full to join us for this meal, but my family and I are really fat-hearted. I just photographed my dishes for this one.
Cheesecake.
Chocolate-pecan pie.
Java.
Strawberry shortcake.
Desserts: bread pudding.
Two run farms beef debris and poached eggs.

Pecan crusted drum with crab sauce.
Pork and mashed potatoes.
Oyster and absinth puff.
I managed to snap a shot of quite a few of the dishes at our table. The Commander's salad.
These were the best biscuits I have ever had. In. My. Life.
A few Bloody Marys, extra spicy of course.
Garlic bread.
Brunch at the Commander's Palace. The way the menu works is you choose an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert from the menu. We also got some biscuits for the table.

Taste of Nola: Day 1

Warm chocolate cake with a nut-encrusted chocolate sheet.
Cheesecake with candied pears.
Shared amongst the family: bread pudding.
Desserts: Mocca noisette with dark chocolate.
Main course: Fried drum over fried potatoes and haricot verts.
Appetizer: blue fin tuna tostada salad with hicama, red pepper, jalapeno, and an avocado-chipotle dressing.
A few Maker's Marks on the rocks (gotta go for the bourbon in Nola).
My dinner: wheat rolls and jalapeno corn bread with butter.
There's mom and Gina at Nola.
Dinner: We went to Emeril Lagasse's restaurant Nola for dinner. Luckily, we had a lot of food in our stomachs (as per usual) because my friend Natasha (nicknamed Downtown Natasha Brown, and a most well-earned nickname it is) showed us around town that night. We hit up about seven different bars.
Snacks: some of Nola's signature pralines (and some of that massive pile of candy Gina and I purchased at the airport, as we were expecting a meal between dinner and brunch and we cannot go more than an hour or so without food).
Brunch: a few cups of java, some bread and butter, and a jambalaya omelette (rice, beans, chicken, cheddar, with creole sauce) and grits.

Airport Sliders

As Gina and my flight to New Orleans was scheduled to take off right around dinner last Friday, we decided to make it a Laguardia sit-down meal. Those are Gina's rad nails gripping a Bud Light. I got red wine and sliders. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed over an hour, and by the time we rushed to the gate the restaurants were swarming. No more drinks for us. However, we did stock up on a ton of candy.
