Alex took care of the main dish: fresh mozzarella with chives served with tomato sauce from scratch over pasta.
I made the salad: baby greens, avocado, craisins, goat cheese, scallions, and jalapeno in an olive oil-lemon dressing.
One of the first conversations to strike up my friendship with Alex was over musician Calvin Johnson (founder of K-Records, among other things). I was super bummed because I had to miss him play on February 10th in Montauk, but luckily, he was playing again the following night in Brooklyn with Chain&the Gang. Alex doubled up on Calvin shows and went again with me and her friend Allegra, who actually organized the Montauk show. Before we went to see him play, Alex and I caught up and Allegra and I became acquainted over a nice home-cooked meal.
